Description/Interesting Notes: A classic, old time example of magnetite var. lodestone from Magnet Cove!!! This specimen consists of a dense cluster of cubo-octahedral crystals of magnetite var. lodestone that has been coated by subsequent mineralization!!! The matrix also appears to be comprised of massive or altered magnetite as well!!! This is OLD material that likely dates to the 19th century!!! This specimen is from the University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum and retains an old museum label as well!!! A terrific, old time example of a "magnet" from Magnet Cove!!!
