Limonite

West Coast of Africa

6.43cm x 4.46cm x 1.85cm

Ex. Charles R. Miller Collection (1857-1927)

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique, old time example of iridescent limonite from the West Coast of Africa!!! This old time specimen likely dates to the 19th century and hosts a broad face of botryoidal limonite that exhibits some of the most intense and showy rainbow-colored iridescence that I have ever seen on a limonite specimen!!! It is difficult to show just how brightly colored and intensely metallic this iridescence is in the pics - in person this specimen is extraordinary!!! This specimen is from the collection of Charles R. Miller (1857-1927) who was a lawyer for the Wilmington Malleable Iron Company and later vice president of the Mandy Minding Company before becoming the Governer of Delaware in 1912!!! This specimen retains its original label from Charles R. Miller's personal collection!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
