Description/Interesting Notes: This is an INCREDIBLE example of a limonite concretion from Georgia!!! Let me start off by saying that this specimen is COMPLETELY NATURAL in every way!!! Limonitic concretions have been found in all manner of curious shapes and forms and have confounded people for years!!! While sedimentary geologists have explained their origins and causes they are still a fascinating area of study indeed!!! Limonite concretions that are simply hollow are not rare per se, and they are sometimes even found with "rattles" in them - however to find such an exquisite example of a "nested" concretion is very rare indeed!!! Thankfully, and luckily, this specimen was very carefully cracked open to reveal a perfectly concentric limonitic between two perfectly fitting halves!!! This specimen is truly a marvel of nature!!! This specimen is one of those one-in-a-million, once in a lifetime oddities that you will never see again!!! This specimen retains its original Prof. E. Wm. Heinrich Collection, University of Michigan label and affixed catalogue number as well!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
