Libethenite

Lubietova (Libethen), Banska Bystrica Co., Banska Bystrica Region, Slovakia

3.87cm x 2.85cm x 2cm

Ex. Howard Belsky Collection

Ex. U. S. National Museum (Smithsonian Museum)

Description/Interesting Notes:

A magnificent, old time example of libethenite from the type locality!!! This specimen hosts numerous, sharp, lustrous crystals of dark green libethenite on matrix!!! The crystals exhibit characteristic, modified octahedral form with sharp, glassy faces and measure in size up to 4mm!!! There is much more sharp crystalline material than it appears from the pics!!! There are significant crystals on both sides of the specimen!!! This specimen retains old labels from the personal collection of Howard Belsky as well as an old label from the Smithsonitan (U.S. National Museum)!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 16th!!!
