Native Lead with Aurichalcite

Broken Hill Proprietary Mine, Broken Hill, Yancowinna Co., New South Wales, Australia

2.5cm x 1.55cm x 1.34cm

Ex. Morris Museum of Arts & Sciences, Geology Dept.

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare example of native lead from Broken Hill!!! This specimen hosts an impressive showing of rare native lead on matrix in association with some pale bluish microcrystals of aurichalcite!!! Upon close examination the native lead appears to exhibit some subhedral forms and the crystals of aurichalcite can be seen as tiny tufts of acicular crystals!!! There are also numerous tiny submillimeter spessartine garnet crystals present throughout the matrix - a characteristic Broken Hill feature!!! This specimen is from the Morris Museum and retains its original label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 28th!!!
