Native Iron

Near Mount Fuji, Yamanashi prefecture, Chubu region, Honshu Island, Japan

9cm x 2.73cm x .8cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare locality example of native iron from Japan!!! This specimen hosts numerous masses of native iron distributed throughout a vein in matrix!!! I am told this material came from a very small find made by a researcher and specimens are very rare indeed (all coming from the same single mass!)!!! The specimen is cut and polished on both sides and in person one can see that the vein that contains the native iron exhibits some attractive green translucence as well!!! This specimen is WAY better than the pictures show and, upon close inspection on can see a significant amount of native iron as well!!! Examples of terrestrial native iron are quite scarce from any locality, however this is very rare material from Japan!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 28th!!!
