Hibonite

Anosy Region (Fort Dauphin Region), Tulear Province, Madagascar

4.34cm x 3.25cm x 2.2cm

Ex. J. Cilen Collection No. 11,642

Description/Interesting Notes:

An incredible example of this rare species from Madagascar!!! This specimen consists of a huge, complex crystal of hibonite!!! Hibonite crystals of such size are extremely rare indeed!!! This specimen consists of a complex group of intergrown hexagonal crystals!!! The crystals have dark black color with marked luster and well defined features!!! The specimen has a very slight curveture to it which made it difficult to accurately capture in the photos, however its hexagonal form and complex features are sharp and pronounced in person!!! This specimen retains an old label from noted collector Joe Cilen as well as an old Scott Williams label in addition!!! Simply a magnificent example of this rare species!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 3rd!!!
