Hessite with Petzite

May Day Mine, La Plata District, La Plata Co., Colorado

4.8cm x 3.1cm x 2.1cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of these rare silver and gold bearing species from this seldom referenced Colorado locale!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of dark gray to black masses of intergrown hessite and petzite scattered throughout matrix!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see numerous minute crystals of petzite in association with massive hessite!!! Some of the petzite crystals are quite well formed for the species and have sharp, lustrous features!!! This specimen retains an old label, along with significant and detailed notes!!! The old label shows assay values of the ore - "assay, gold 505 oz., silver 6403 oz."!!! Ex. Bart Cannon!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 30th!!!
