Uraninite with "Gummite"

Ruggles mine, Grafton, Grafton Co., New Hampshire

9.2cm x 5.23cm

Ex. Alexander F. Knoll Collection No. 970

Description/Interesting Notes:

A magnificently rich and showy old time example of gummite from New Hampshire!!! This specimen consists of a dense, solid mass of colorful gummite with uraninite and cyrtolite zircon!!! Gummite is a combination of several uranium bearing species such as boltwoodite, clarkeite, curite, kasolite, soddyite, uraninite, and uranophane!!! The gummite shows rich, intense hues of bright yellows and vivid oranges in aesthetic combination with jet-black uraninite!!! There are also numerous dark brownish crystals of cyrtolite zircon in association as well - many of which are quite sharp and well-formed!!! The pictures don't even come close to doing this rich specimen justice!!! This specimen is surprisingly heavy for it size!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Knoll collection as well!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 29th!!!
