Grossular Garnet with Diopside Burnet Co., Texas 7.46cm x 6.8cm x 2.52cm Ex. Michigan College of Mines No. 7912 (A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum)

Description/Interesting Notes: A rare locality example of grossular garnet from Texas!!! This specimen consists of a highly complex grouping of grossular garnet crystals in association with green diopside crystals!!! The grossular garnet crystals exhibit a peculiar formation of concentric, complexly etched crystals - one inside the other!!! One can see the concentric zones of grossular garnet surrounding the center crystal!!! The green diopside is quite well crystallized in areas and provides a handsome compliment to the grossular garnet crystals!!! This specimen is from a very rare locality for the species - Burnet Co. Texas!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Michigan College of Mines (today known as the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum)!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
