Native Gold after Sylvanite

Cripple Creek District, Teller Co., Colorado

3.37cm x 1.8cm x 1.7cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of native gold after sylvanite from Colorado!!! This specimen is just loaded with native gold!!! This specimen consists of what used to be numerous intergrown crystals of sylvanite that have almost all been completely replaced by native gold!!! This is a natural pseudomorph and shouldn't be confused with what are sometimes refered to as "roasted gold" (telluride ores that were heated by miners to drive off the tellurium and leave the native gold behind)!!! In addition to the rich showing of native gold, one can see that there are still numerous areas of partially altered and unaltered sylvanite as well!!! This is incredible, old time material that came out of old institutional stock!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 3rd!!!
