Native Gold

7850 stope, 4 1/2 level, Hematite ore shoot, Camp Bird Vein, Camp Bird Mine, Ouray Co., Colorado

4.6cm x 2.82cm x 1.06cm

Ex. Robert E. Jenkins II Colleciton No. 7721

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific example of native gold from this classic Colorado locality!!! This specimen consists of a cut and polished mass of quartz, sphalerite, galena, and scheelite that hosts a network of bright, buttery yellow native gold inclusions!!! One side of the specimen has been cut and polished to reveal the native gold included within!!! Upon close inspection, one can see tiny areas of native gold included in the unpolished areas as well!!! The associated scheelite fluoresces a bright blue-green under UV as well and are present as small, included crystals that polka-dot the matrix!!! This specimen is from the personal collection of Bob Jenkins and retains its orginal personal collection label as well!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
