Native Gold

16 to 1 Mine, Grass Valley, Nevada City District (Grass Valley District), Sierra Co., California

2.9cm x 3.13cm x 2.47cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic, old time example of native gold from this famous California locality!!! This specimen consists of a quartz and calcite matrix that hosts a rich showing of native gold!!! The native gold is visible on every side of the specimen with prominent crystals both jutting out from the specimen as well as included throughout!!! The native gold has bright metallic brilliance and an attractive multi-hued iridescent patina!!! The native gold exhibits aesthetic reddish tones which is due to a trace amount of copper and is characteristic of this famed locality!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 5th!!!
