Native Gold in Chrysocolla

Bullfrog Mine, Bullfrog Hills, Beatty, Nye Co., Nevada

1.43cm x .69cm x .28cm

Ex. M. W. Davis Co., circa 1940

Ex. Donald Gabriel Collection

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic example of native gold from this famed Nevada locale!!! This specimen consists of a cut gemstone of native gold in a chrysocolla matrix!!! There are areas of native gold scattered throughout the specimen!!! The specimen likely has some silver content as well and it is also likely that the dark areas are uytenbogaardtite as well!!! This specimen was acquired by Donald C. Gabriel, a Ford Motor Company executive in 1940 on a trip to Nevada!!! The specimen retains a detailed label from the A.E. Seaman Museum and has an affixed label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 6th!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
