Native Gold with Quartz

Cripple Creek District, Teller Co., Colorado

2.8cm x 1.75cm x 1.34cm

Ex. Dr. Benjamin Ackerman Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A magnificent example of native gold from Colorado!!! While this historic region is famous for its rich reserves of gold, the vast majority of it was found as telluride ores with examples of native gold being rather scarce!!! This specimen hosts a very rich showing of native gold on a quartz matrix!!! The native gold has a rich hue and brilliant luster!!! Upon very close examination with a loupe or scope there are a few minute hints of associated tellurides as well!!! A very rich and handsome specimen for the locality!!! This specimen is from the collection of Dr. Ben Ackerman, an exploratory geologist involved in the gold industry!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 13th!!!
