Description/Interesting Notes: A rare and unusual example of native gold from South Africa!!! This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that hosts a rich vein of native gold and an unidentified black mineral!!! The native gold has a rich buttery yellow hue that stands out in bright contrast to the jet-black grains!!! The native gold also appears to encapsulate the unknown black grains!!! Examples of native gold from this region are quite scarce indeed!!! This unusual specimen is fascinating under close examination!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
