Goethite

McDonald Mine, Pictou Co., Nova Scotia, Canada

14.6cm x 14cm x 10cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

An amazing, old time example of goethite from Nova Scotia!!! This impressive goethite specimen dates to the late 1800's!!! This specimen consists of a large, showy grouping of very well crystallized goethite stalactites!!! The goethite crystals exhibit a variety of complex and showy crystalline features throughout the specimen - from glittery velveteen botryoidal surfaces to glassy smooth forms and fibrous radiating cross-sections - this is simply a magnificent example of the species indeed!!! The pictures hardly capture just how fantastic this large and impressive historic goethite is!!! This specimen retains an old affixed label and dates to area's the late 1800's as well!!! Don't miss out on this valuable historic specimen!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
