Getchellite with Orpiment

Getchell Mine, Adam Peak, Potosi District, Humboldt Co., Nevada

5.53cm x 4cm x 2cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A magnificent example of this rare species from the type locality in Nevada!!! This specimen hosts a very rich showing of intense crimson red getchellite with yellowish orpiment!!! This specimen hosts a very rich showing of rare getchellite visible on all sides!!! There are signficant crystals of getchellite all over the specimen!!! There are well defined micaceous "books" and platey crystals in abundance!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see significant crystalline features as well!!! There are also a few tiny grains of rare laffittite present as well!!! This is a magnificent example of the species and is quite showy in person!!! Older material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 5th!!!
