"Gem Silica" Chalcedony with Chrysocolla & Malachite

Live Oak pit, Inspiration Mine, Globe-Miami District, Gila Co., Arizona

4.1cm x 3cm x 2.22cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic, old time example of "gem silica" quartz var. chalcedony with chrysocolla from this famed Arizona locale!!! This specimen consists of a gorgeous, intensely colored example of "gem silica" consisting of a thick layer of gemmy, botryoidal chalcedony in association with bright turquoise-colored chrysocolla!!! In addition to the chrysocolla, there are some fibrous crystals of deep green malachite in association as well!!! Upon close inspection, there is also a broad, partial crystal of azurite that has been completely replaced by the gem silica as well!!! This specimen displays stunningly all around, with striking colors and textures to be seen on all sides!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
