Fluorite

Heights Mine, Westgate, Weardale, North Pennines, Co. Durham, England

4.28cm x 3.67cm x 2.8cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic old time example of fluorite from England!!! Let me start off by saying that this specimen is WAY better than the pictures show!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of cubic fluorite crystals that have bright glassy luster and translucent to gemmy clarity!!! The crystals exhibit a rich green color with faint zones of purplish within!!! Two of the cubic crystals host some complexly stepped features on their faces and have more translucent clarity, while one of the crystals exhibits characteristic interpenetration twinning and terrific gemmy clarity!!! This specimen is very showy and attractive in person - it is WAY better than the pics show!!! Although the crystals show some edgewear, the crystals are complete and in fantastic condition!!! This is an OLD specimen that came out of old museum stock!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
