Description/Interesting Notes: A rare, old time example of epidote from North Carolina!!! This specimen consists of a complete, undamaged, doubly-terminated crystal of epidote!!! In addition to being doubly terminated, the crystal also appears to be twinned along the c-axis!!! The twinning is much more evident in person as well!!! The crystal has sharp, glassy faces and marked clarity!!! With backlighting, one can see that this crystal exhibits strong pleochroism - showing distinct greenish color when viewed through the broad face and brownish color when viewed on edge!!! A fantastic specimen for the locality!!! This specimen retains an old label that simply notes its locality as North Carolina!!! Rare material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
