Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely extraordinary example of dioptase from this exciting new locality!!! This specimen consists of a huge single crystal of
intensely colored dioptase!!! These dioptase specimens
came from a small, but truly extraordinary find at the Cristoff Mine!!! These specimens are setting a new standard for
this famed and sought after species!!! These Christoff Mine dioptase specimens are still quite scarce and command very
high prices!!! This crystal has sharp, glassy faces, translucent to gemmy clarity, and stunning emerald green color (for some reason, these incredible
crystals can show up bluish in the pictures but make no mistake, this specimen is INTENSE EMERALD GREEN in person)!!! However, its
most unique and striking feature is its curious habit - this crystal actually shows a slight rotation on the c-axis!!! It is basically
a dioptase "gwindel"!!! This unique, slight rotation has resulted in a crystal that exhibits some super-intense color on certain edges!!! You can
see in the pictures that the specimen just lights up a much brighter green at the termination and on areas along the prism faces!!! This
stunning feature makes for a very striking display indeed (as if a pristine 3cm+ dioptase crystal wasn't enough!)!!!
The bottom of the crystal hosts some minor quartz association and exhibits
some curiously flattened features as well (the bottom is actually a crystalline contact)!!!
This specimen is complete, undamaged, and pristine!!! This specimen is VERY showy and dynamic in person!!!
This is a GIANT dioptase crystal, with an amazing habit and striking coloration - you
don't want to miss out on this rare stunner!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
