Cuprite

Chino Mine, Santa Rita, Grant Co., New Mexico

3.74cm x 3cm x 2.4cm

Ex. J. W. V. Rawlings (b. 1826)

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #DM-5512

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic, old time example of cuprite from New Mexico!!! This specimen hosts several sharp, complex crystals of cuprite prominently perched on matrix!!! The crystals have sharp, lustrous faces, and are significantly sized!!! The most striking feature however is the intense red color of these crystals!!! These cuprite crystals are gemmy and have INTENSE ruby red color!!! These crystals are unusually lively and with any degree of lighting their intense ruby red fire can easily be seen!!! Remarkable old time material!!! This specimen retains a label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum with J. W. V. Rawlings (b. 1826) collection notation!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 16th!!!
