Cryolite

Ivittuut (Ivigtut), Arsuk Firth, Arsuk, Kitaa (West Greenland) Province, Greenland

9.4cm x 5.9cm x 5.6cm

Ex. L. L. Hubbard Collection

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of rare, crystalline cryolite with thomsenolite from Greenland!!! This specimen boasts a broad face covered with sharp, cubic crystals of cryolite!!! The cryolite crystals are sharp and lustrous!!! There is a thin layer of brown iron staining that, in person, further highlights the crystals (which are difficult to appreciate in the pics)!!! Crystalline examples of cryolite are quite rare indeed!!! This is a fantastic, old time example!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen retains its original Seaman Museum collection label with L.L. Hubbard (1849-1933) notation!!! The pics hardly do it justice - must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 10th!!!
