Description/Interesting Notes: A rare locality example of crocoite from Brazil!!! This specimen hosts numerous crystals of intense, orange-red crocoite on matrix!!! Examples of crocoite from Brazil are scarcely seen on the market!!! This is rare, 19th century material and retains an old label from Dr. A. Krantz (1809-1872) and an old label from the Michigan College of Mines (A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum)!!! The specimen also still retains its original antique, glass-lined specimen box as well!!! The old label notes the locality as "Villa Rica" which may be an antiquated reference to Ouro Preto!!! Rare material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
