Covellite with Pyrite Butte, Butte District (Summit Valley District), Silver Bow Co., Montana 4.65cm x 2.75cm x 1.54cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A magnificent example of covellite with pyrite from Butte!!! This specimen hosts a showy cluster of sharp, complete, free standing crystals of covellite in association with curious, almost botryoidal pyrite!!! The covellite crystals are present as sharp, complete hexagonal crystals with iridescent metallic luster that shows dramatic hues of blue, magenta red, and purple!!! The pyrite has a brassy golden hue and ranges from botryoidal forms to sparkly microcrystals (possibly marcasite?) as well!!! This specimen is WAY better than the pics show!!! Simply an outstanding example of covellite indeed!!! Sharp, undamaged, free standing crystals!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
