Chalcedony pseudomorph after Coral Ballast Point, Tampa Bay, Tampa, Hillsborough Co., Florida 15.5cm x 10.5cm x 9cm Ex. Albert Peppis Collection

Description/Interesting Notes: A large and showy example of chalcedony replacing coral from Florida!!! This specimen is quite fascinating for a number of reasons!!! In many instances, these pseudomorphs don't leave behind much evidence of the coral, however this specimen still shows a coral-like surface!!! In addition, one can still see the parallel structures that have turned into the columnar stalactite-like chalcedony forms on the side of the matrix!!! And from underneath the chalcedony spires one can see uniformly shaped cross-sections!!! All evidence of the life form that once occupied this now beautiful mineral specimen!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection!!!
