Native Copper pseudomorph after Azurite

Georgetown, Georgetown District, Grant Co., New Mexico

2cm x 1.66cm x 1.5cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A magnificent, old time example of this rare and sought after pseudomorph from New Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a group of blocky azurite crystals that has been completely replaced by native copper!!! Often times these rare pseudomorphs are poorly defined and deformed, however this specimen exhibits particularly sharp details and form all around!!! The copper even shows areas of metallic brilliance (a feature that is almost never seen on these specimens - usually they are a drab dark brown)!!! This is an outstanding specimen indeed!!! OLD material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
