Native Copper

Bingham Canyon Mine, Bingham District, Oquirrh Mts, Salt Lake Co., Utah

12.3cm x 6.45cm x 3.5cm

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum No. DM-1932

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique, old time example of native copper from Utah!!! This specimen is comprised almost entirely of native silver in association with a small amount of matrix!!! The native copper is completely crystalline - consisting of a dense group of bright, intergrown copper crystals that has been infiltrated by a second generation of thin, wire-like dendritic copper crystals that have a distinctly different and darker patina!!! In person, the difference between the two generations of intergrown copper crystals is quite pronounced!!! This specimen is fascinating upon close inspection!!! A fantastic old time native copper from Utah!!! This specimen retains an old label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 11th!!!
