Native Copper with Goethite

Consolidated Mine, Wissen, Siegerland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

5.9cm x 4.8cm x 4cm

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum

Description/Interesting Notes:

An unusual, old time example of native copper from Germany!!! This specimen consists of a limonite & goethite matrix that hosts a rich network of unusual, spongiform crystalline native copper!!! There is actually much more native copper present than it might appear in the pictures - in person one can find copper all over the specimen!!! In addition to the spongiform masses, there are scattered spinel-twin crystals present as well!!! The spongiform copper is actually quite well crystallized when viewed under magnification as well!!! The copper has a lively patina in person!!! This historic specimen retains an old label from the Seaman Museum as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 22nd!!!
