Clinozoisite

Sulzer, Hetta Inlet, Prince of Wales Island, Ketchikan District, Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan Borough, Alaska

3.54cm x 2.77cm x 2cm

Ex. Paterson Museum

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique and unusual example of clinozoisite from Alaska!!! While the epidote specimens from Prince of Wales Island are well-known classics, examples of clinozoisite are virtually unheard of!!! The clinozoisite crystal consists of a group of parallel associated crystals in association with a small amount of matrix!!! The clinozoisite crystals have glassy luster and marked clarity!!! The crystals have very interesting color that seems to show a variety of brownish, reddish-brown, and olive green hues with slightly lighter colored terminations!!! This specimen is from the Paterson Museum and retains an old label and affixed catalogue number!!! Rare and unusual old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
