Description/Interesting Notes: A unique, old time example of chrysotile and "noble" serpentine from New Jersey!!! This specimen consists of dramatically chatoyant vein of dense, markedly translucent, orange colored chrysotile in a matrix of lively yellowish noble serpentine!!! The chrysotile displays a stunning orange translucence in person that is quite surprising and the serpentine is equally impressive with its lively yellow color, marked luster, and glowing translucence!!! This specimen retains a label from the Franklin Mineral Museum that notes it is from the collections of John S. Albanese and R.A. Fitton and was originally collected in 1896!!!
