Calcite with Chalcopyrite & Malachite

San Pedro Mine, New Placers District, Santa Fe Co., New Mexico

3.75cm x 2.92cm x 2.13cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique, old time example of calcite and chalcopyrite with malachite from this seldom referenced New Mexico locality!!! This specimen consists of a single, complex scalenohedral crystal of calcite in association with a group of interpenetrant chalcopyrite crystals that are partially coated by lively green malachite!!! The calcite crystal is complete, undamaged, and has a curious, partial second growth layer and a scepter-like termination!!! The chalcopyrite crystals are sharp and complete!!! This is a very well balanced and attractive old time combo from a rare New Mexico locality!!! The specimen is in magnificent condition and displays gorgeously!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 8th!!!
