Chalcocite

Mammoth Mine, Mount Gordon, Gunpowder District, Mount Isa - Cloncurry area, Queensland, Australia

4cm x 3.17cm x 2.22cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A magnificent example of chalcocite from this seldom referenced locale in Australia!!! This specimen consists of a rich, showy cluster of complex chalcocite crystals in association with a small amount of matrix!!! This specimen hosts numerous showy, sharp, brightly metallic crystals of chalcocite that exhibit characteristic twinning and a handsome bluish metallic patina!!! The crystals are in fantastic condition and range in size up to 1.5cm!!! This specimen is loaded with crystals and there is much more going on here than the pics show!!! The luster and iridescent bluish patina are much more pronounced in person!!! This specimen is in fantastic condition and displays magnificently in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 20th!!!
