Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of rare "chrome" cerussite from Tasmania!!! This specimen hosts numerous lively yellow crystals
of cerussite on a characteristic gossan matrix!!! The crystals are present as complex, tabular crystals
with glassy luster and marked translucence!!! The crystals are in fantastic condition and the specimen displays
quite handsomely all around!!! Interestingly, while this material has long been known as "chrome" cerussite recent
work has shown that this unique coloration is independent of chromium content and instead may be related to
some kind of organic impurity!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer and retains an
original collection label as well!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer
