A magnificent, old time beauty from this historic locality!!! This classic specimen hosts a striking 2cm+ crystal of lustrous, glowing translucent, tan
colored cerussite crystal aesthetically perched on the matrix amongst complex crystals of galena!!! The cerussite crystal is complete all around, pristine and
undamaged!!! The galena crystals have highly complex habits and there are also a few scattered sphalerite crystals present as well!!! There are small,
lustrous groups of quartz points scattered about as well!!! There are a few other smaller cerussite crystals scattered about the matrix and other
interesting features that were too numerous to photograph!!! On a side note,
there are some curious bands in the quartz matrix that appear to have been composed of some kind of layered schist-like mineral
that appears to have subsequently altered to galena (there is still a small amount of the original material remaining in areas)!!!
Fine, old time examples of cerussite
from Mexica such as this are quite scarce indeed!!! A rare and valuable historic beauty indeed!!! The pics don't
even come close to doing it justice!!!
