Cassiterite

Zacatecas, Mexico

2.54cm x 1.9cm x .42cm

Ex. Alfred Stevenson Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique example of cassiterite from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of unique, red crystals of cassiterite!!! The crystals exhibit numerous curious features upon close inspection and one can also see numerous examples of characteristic twinning as well!!! The crystals are well formed and much more sharply defined than the pics show!!! There are also tiny crystals of near black, highly lustrous crystals of what appear superficially to be rutile or similar species (ilmenorutile, etc.)!!! This specimen is very unique and quite handsome as well!!! This specimen is from the collection of Alfred Stevenson and retains an old label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 1st!!!
