Calcite on Tremolite

Royal Green Marble Quarry, Phillipsburg, Lopatcong Township, Warren Co., New Jersey

6.28cm x 4.9cm x 2.6cm

collected 1958

Description/Interesting Notes:

A remarkable example of calcite from New Jersey!!! This specimen consists of a lightly colored tremolite matrix that hosts an incredible cluster of pristine, GEM clear crystals of calcite!!! The crystals have highly complex, modified habits with razor-sharp faces and brilliant, glassy luster!!! The crystals have water-clear GEM clarity that is simply remarkable in person!!! The superb clarity combined with the sharp, complex form makes for a lively play of light within and a dynamic presentation in person!!! This is truly an incredible specimen from a seldom-referenced New Jersey locality!!! This specimen retains an old label that notes it was collected in 1958!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 22nd!!!
