Pyrite with Quartz & Calcite Huanzala Mine, Huallanca District, Dos de Mayo Province, Huánuco Department, Peru 5.82cm x 5.46cm x 3.86cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A showy combination of pyrite with quartz and calcite from Peru!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of golden pyrite crystals in aesthetic combination with a group of calcite rhombs and clusters of complex quartz crystals!!! The pyrite crystals have sharp, striated faces with brilliant metallic luster!!! The calcite crystals are quite unique actually - they are mostly altered to quartz!!! The rhombs are opaque and have curious, naturally etched surfaces (likely related to their quartz alteration!)!!! While the "calcite" rhombs have some areas that are coated with tiny quartz crystals, the great majority of these rhombs has actually been completely altered to quartz!!! There is a LOT going on with this specimen and it is quite handsome in person as well!!! This specimen is from the collection of Larry Krause!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
