Description/Interesting Notes: A wonderfully aesthetic example of calcite from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a bright red cluster of complex calcite crystals on a quartz matrix!!! Unlike other hematite-included calcite specimens, this specimen is on a clean, solid quartz matrix - not a crusty limonitic matrix and the crystals host the hematite inclusions only on the inside - allowing the crystals to retain their bright luster!!! The crystals have bright, glassy luster and razor-sharp faces!!! Many of the crystals are doubly terminated and have somewhat unusual, complex habits!!! The red color is quite lively and intense - it almost resembles chalcotrichite!!! The crystals have a wonderful, glowing traslucence as well!!! This specimen is pristine and undamaged, and displays fantastically all around!!! This specimen is simply stunning in person!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!!
