Calaverite

Cripple Creek District, Teller Co., Colorado

7.5cm x 5.25cm x 2.73cm

Ex. George A. Koenig Collection (1844-1913)

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #DM-3329

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic, old time example of calaverite from Colorado!!! This specimen hosts numerous areas of calaverite on matrix!!! The broad face of the specimen hosts several significant areas of brilliant, metallic calaverite and, upon close examination, one can find a network of tiny calaverite grains richly distributed throughout the matrix as well!!! The calaverite has silvery metallic brilliance with a characteristic, slightly golden hue!!! The reverse hosts a signficant area of microcrystalline purple fluorite as well!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains its original old label with George A. Koenig (1844-1913) Collection notation as well!!! Classic old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
