Chalcocite altering to Bornite

Cook's Kitchen Mine, Camborne - Redruth - St Day District, Cornwall, England

2.65cm x 1.4cm x .93cm

Ex. Bud Webster Collection #713

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific, old time example of chalcocite altering to bornite from this classic locale!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of juxtaposed chalcocite crystals that exhibit significant alteration to bornite!!! The chalcocite crystals have characteristic tabular hexagonal form with marked luster and well defined features!!! Upon close inspection, one can see areas where there is significant alteration to somewhat grainy, darkly colored bornite!!! This specimen displays quite handsomely in person and is way better than the pics show!!! This specimen retains an old label from Howard Belsky as well as Bud Webster!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 15th!!!
