Boleite

Amelia Mine, Santa Rosalia, Boleo District, Mun. de Mulege, Baja California Sur, Mexico

2.1cm x 1.6cm x 1.3cm

Ex. J. T. Reeder Collection (1857-1937)

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #JTR-953

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific, old time example of boleite from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a pair of deep royal blue crystals of boleite on matrix!!! Boleite crystals are most often seen as isolated crystals, with matrix specimens being quite scarce!!! This is OLD time material that dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's!!! The crystals exhibit characteristic cubic form with marked luster and striking deep royal blue color!!! The crystals are prominently perched on matrix and measure up to 4mm!!! This specimen has an old affixed catalogue number from the collection of J.T. Reeder (1857-1937) as well as a corresponding catalogue number from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
