Boleite

Amelia Mine, Boleo District, Mun. de Mulege, Baja California Sur, Mexico

1.2cm x 1.2cm x .6cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A large and impressive example of this rare species from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of an unusually large and showy crystal of boleite!!! The overwhelming majority of boleite crystals range in size up to just a few millimeters, with crystals measuring over 1cm being exceedingly rare - this specimen measures an incredible 1.2cm on edge and over 1.5cm diagonally!!! Despite the fact that the reverse side of the crystal is a cleavage face, it displays gorgeously!!! The crystal has sharp, lustrous faces and intense royal blue color throughout!!! Interestingly, the reverse shows an intricate pattern that looks like a cross, highlighted by an organized network of fiery-blue flashes!!! A very showy and impressive example of this complex rare ore of copper, silver, and lead!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
