Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely INCREDIBLE example of BLUE GEM garnet from Madagascar!!! This is a highly complex, single crystal of very rare
spessartine-pyrope garnet!!! This is a TRUE, INCREDIBLY RARE, BLUE garnet!!! Additionally, this
specimen shows INTENSE and pronounced color change - changing from an intense deep sapphire blue in sunlight or natural full spectrum fluorescent to an
amazing violet purple in incandescent lighting!!! This is a clean, facet-grade, GEM crystal that
exhibits some incredible complex faces!!! The crystal has a mind-bendingly
complex habit with sharply defined, glassy faces!!! This specimen has the most incredible color - it is truly unlike
anything I have ever seen in a gem crystal!!! I must say that capturing this specimen with the camera was quite a challenge!!! I must
stress that this specimen's color is WAY better than the pictures show!!! The blue color is VERY intense, deep and defined!!! The
blue color is not a "purplish blue" or "bluish" - it is a TRUE, INTENSE BLUE color that is unlike anything I have ever seen in the mineral kingdom!!!
The purple color is incredible as well, however in most typical lighting situations this specimen proudly shows its stunning blue color!!!
This specimen exhibits some of the BEST color change I have ever seen as well!!! The color change is dramatic, intense, and defined!!! The
pictures don't even come close to capturing just how amazing this material is!!! There is only a VERY small handful of this material
recovered in Madagascar and it is almost never seen as crystals!!! This material is incredibly scarce and is usually only found as
tiny grains less than a carat in size!!! This is a very large example of this super-rare gem garnet and an extraordinary example in terms
of crystallization!!! In the rare instances when gem rough material comes to market it is instantly snatched up and commands extremely high prices!!!
