Bismuthinite with Cassiterite Marcamarcani Mine (San Baldomero Mine), Sorata, Larecaja Province, La Paz Department, Bolivia 5.7cm x 4.1cm x 3.45cm

Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutely KILLER, old time example of bismuthinite from Bolivia!!! This specimen consists of a striking cluster of juxtaposed crystals of bismuthinite in association with cassiterite crystals!!! Rarely do you see bismuthinite crystals even approaching this size!!! The cassiterite crystals have grown in the cavities among the crystals and, in at least one instance, there is what appears to be a pseudomorph of cassiterite after bismuthinite - however it is a "negative" where a cavity was completely filled with cassiterite and subsequently exposed (they look like unusually dark bisumuthinite crystals with no metallic characteristics - you can pick them out in these pictures if you are careful!)!!! This specimen is absolutely incredible in person!!! This is a very significant, old time example of the species (you'll notice that there is also an old catalogue number on the specimen)!!!
