Beryl var. Rubidian Beryl

Mount Mica Quarry, Paris, Oxford Co., Maine

3.26cm x 2.92cm x 2.27cm

Ex. Perham's

Ex. Bruce M. Jarnot Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare example of rubidian beryl from this classic locality!!! This specimen consists of a highly complex crystal of rubidian beryl!!! These rare rubidian beryl crystals have an unusually high rubidium content and often exhibit complex or irregular morphology!!! This specimen has a highly complex habit with a striking network of sharp faces across its front with irregular surfaces on the reverse!!! The crystal appears to be largely complete and has marked translucence and a faint bluish green color (the color is somewhat lighter than the pics show)!!! This specimen is really quite striking in person - it really needs to be seen in person!!! This specimen retains old labels from Perham's and the Jarnot Collection and has notation dated 1949!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
