Description/Interesting Notes: A unique example of benitoite from California!!! This specimen consists of a complex crystal of benitoite prominently perched on matrix!!! The crystal is complete and has a rare hexagonal habit rather than the much more common triangular habit that is often seen!!! You'll notice the sharp hexagonal face present on the front of the crystal!!! The crystal is prominently perched on the matrix with sharp faces with complex features and bright luster!!! The crystal has characteristic blue color and some areas of marked gemminess!!! The crystal exhibits intense fluorescence under SW UV and the fluorescence is intense even under full lighting (as you can see in one of the pictures)!!! Older material!!!
