Barite with Calcite & Sphalerite on Fluorite

Bleiberg District, Gailtaler Alpen & Karnische Alpen Mts, Carinthia, Austria

6.7cm x 4.86cm x 2.82cm

Ex. Dr. A. Krantz (1850-1888)

Ex. Michigan College of Mines #12728,
A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #DM-15006K

Description/Interesting Notes:

An old time example of barite from Austria!!! This specimen hosts numerous balls of whitish barite crystals in association with complex colorless calcite crystals, and small yellowish sphalerite crystals on a layer of small root-beer colored cubic fluorite crystals!!! This classic old timer retains old labels from Dr. A. Krantz and Michigan College of Mines as well!!! Although the labels note the locality as "Bleiberg, Westphalia, Germany" it has been determined that the specimen is almost certainly from Bleiberg, Austria!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Classic material!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 13th!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
