Native Arsenic

Akadani mine, Chubu Region, Honshu Island, Japan (Germany?)

1cm x .95cm x .9cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of crystalline native arsenic!!! Examples of actual native arsenic crystals are quite scarce and fine examples are only known from a few localities worldwide!!! The Akadani Mine in Japan is famous for its characteristic balls of native arsenic crystals!!! This specimen consists of a well formed group of interpenetrant crystals of native arsenic!!! The crystals are sharply formed, well defined, and complete!!! It should be noted that this specimen retained several previous labels from well known dealers that listed the locality as Germany, however after checking with a number of resources and experts I feel it is more than likely from Japan and was just misattributed at some point - nonetheless, if it is indeed German it is a very significant specimen indeed)!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
